HENRY C.M. WONG - Festival Director
Henry is no stranger to the local festival circuit. Besides being the Founder of Toronto Youth Shorts in 2009, he has also worked with Reel Asian, Canadian Film Fest, and Planet in Focus. Henry produced the Rockie Awards, an international program competition for the Banff World Media Festival, for four years. Outside of his festival work, he has provided event coordination and support to the Canadian Film Centre and the Scarborough Walk of Fame and regularly takes part in community and youth-based initiatives in the arts. Henry is the recipient of a 2016 Legacy Award as well as a 2010 Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Award for his contributions to the Toronto arts community. |
ADAM SAPA - Programmer
Adam is a graduate of York’s MA program in Cinema and Media Studies and McMaster’s Arts and Science program. He has previously worked as an academic researcher, studying the use of documentary film in the classroom. He enjoys trashy reality tv, experimental film, campy film adaptations of stage musicals, and films that embody a DIY ethos. |
BETTINA CALMON - Programmer
Bettina is a Brazilian sound editor and composer with around 10 years of experience in the film and media industry. Among the various courses in music and audio she has attended, the most recent was completed in 2020 at Vancouver Film School. Since then, she has been living in Toronto, where she worked for 2 years at a game studio called Behold. She is now a freelancer, working in various areas within the world of post-production, including film, podcasts, and games. Her passion lies in telling better stories through sound. Some of her favorite movies are narrative-focused rather than action and visual effects-oriented. |
DANIEL SILVA FERREIRA - Programmer
Daniel is a graduate of the University of Brasilia in Social Communication and a Humber College alumnus in Film and Television Production. He has worked on many productions in Brazil and Canada, including short films, commercials, music videos, and documentaries. He has volunteered for Hot Docs, Toronto Fringe Festival, and Toronto International Film Festival, and has attended Cannes as well as festivals in Brazil. He aspires to develop a career in the film festival circuit as a curator. |
SARAH GRISHPUL - Programmer
Sarah is pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism at Toronto Metropolitan University with a deep love for the arts, pop culture and cinema. She has been covering and writing about films for about two years and has worked for institutions like Hot Docs and Cineplex. When she’s not busy watching films, Sarah enjoys playing music on her piano, attempting to survive off movie theatre popcorn, and going on long bike rides. |
BEN WHYTE - Programmer
Hailing from Sarnia, Ontario Ben Whyte developed his love for film starting at a young age watching classic films with his parents. This love of film quickly turned into a passion and he would go on to attend and graduate from the Humber College Film and Television (FMTV) Production program in 2021. He has over three years of experience in the film festival industry and loves promoting diverse storytelling and sharing unique films with the world. He has been a programmer for the Southwestern International Film Festival (SWIFF), Jayu’s Human Rights Film Festival Plus (HRFF+), and Toronto Youth Shorts. He currently works as the Festivals and Special Events Lead at REEL CANADA and continues to watch as many movies as he can. |
ELLEN READE - Programmer
Ellen is an experienced festival worker and emerging film festival programmer. She has a background in volunteer, venue, and box office management, working at over 30 festivals across Canada including Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Edmonton Fringe Festival, Whistler Film Festival, Vancouver International Festival, and Sled Island Music Festival. Additionally, she is in the early stages of starting her own festival dedicated to showcasing fantasy cinema. |
MIRIAM BERMAN - Junior Programmer
Mimi is an award winning junior filmmaker for her work on Slusher. She has had a film featured in the Toronto Jewish Film Festival as well as the New York Jewish FIlm Festival. She is a credited director and currently studying film at her high school. She is passionate about film and enjoys baking and reading in her free time. |
RISHABH SHAH - Junior Programmer
Rishabh is a grade 10 student at SACHS. You can often find him watching movies, listening to music, or playing sports. He is an editor and author for his school paper and has recently started a new branch for the paper that interviews and promotes student entrepreneurship. Apart from school, Rishabh is deeply involved with this community, playing for Markham Cricket Academy’s competitive team and umpiring baseball games with Richmond Hill Baseball Association. Rishabh watches movies from all over the world, his favorite being Taare Zameen Par, A Bollywood tearjerker. |
CURTIS LIANG - Junior Programmer
Curtis is a 10th-grade student at St. Augustine Catholic High School, where he is enrolled in their STREAM+ program. Beyond his role as a junior programmer, he is an umpire for the Richmond Hill Baseball Association and contributes to his school newspaper as a writer. At home, Curtis spends his time editing videos, creating and listening to music, and watching as many films as he can. Being passionate about storytelling since a very young age, he sees it as the main purpose of life and dreams to contribute to the filmmaking industry one day. |
HARRIS CLARK - Junior Programmer
Harris is a student at Crestwood Preparatory College. At school, he created several film-based works as part of a communications technology class. He is also a member of the school's art club and a Reach for the Top team. Harris was selected to be part of the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra's New Generation Composers Workshop and created an original song and accompanying music video which was featured on the Orchestra's YouTube channel. He is an avid enjoyer of music and sound, using Audacity to create various soundscapes. In his spare time, Harris enjoys composing songs and creating musical mash-ups, which can be heard on his YouTube channel. His favourite films include Night at the Museum and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. |
